Don’t Just Show the Deliverable. Show the Decision Behind It.

Don’t Just Show the Deliverable. Show the Decision Behind It.
The value of your work may be found in the decision it helped someone make.

Business Impact Is Not Always a Physical Product
Business professionals do not always produce a physical product.
Their work may appear in a recommendation, a forecast, a risk review, a market analysis, or a dashboard that helped someone decide what to do next.
That decision can be an important part of the evidence story.
Start With the Decision, Not the Deliverable
A presentation is only a file. A financial model is only a spreadsheet. Their value becomes clearer when you explain who used them and what choice they supported.
Did leadership approve a new initiative?
Did a team change its staffing plan?
Did a client select one option over another?
Did a manager identify a risk earlier?
Explain How Your Analysis Supported the Choice
Explain the question you were asked to answer, the information you reviewed, the options you compared, and the recommendation you made.
You do not need to claim that you made the final decision if you did not. Supporting a decision is different from owning it, and that distinction makes the story more credible.

Those may help connect your work to the action that followed.
Even when the final result was not fully measurable, the record may show that your work improved clarity, reduced uncertainty, or helped a team move forward.
Turn a Task Into an Impact Statement
Instead of:
“Prepared a market analysis.”
Try:
“Compared three market-entry options and prepared a recommendation that leadership used to prioritize the next phase of research.”
The second version does not exaggerate the outcome. It simply explains the purpose of the work and who used it.
